The aerial image of a giant caravan of migrants at the border bridge between Guatemala and Mexico on their desperate exodus towards the United States, and that of the massive march in Madrid for International Women’s Day, which in our country had unprecedented following, serve to illustrate a year full of struggles and protests around the world, and that in Spain was marked by economic recovery but also by an increasing political tension, with corruption scandals and the crisis in Catalonia as backdrops, a situation that would end up leading to the fall of Mariano Rajoy and the formation of a new government presided by Pedro Sánchez. Luis Fernández-Galiano goes over the main events of the year in architecture, analyzing some of the most significant subjects of the period. Then, as every year, a selection of twenty-four buildings offers a sample of the architectural panorama in Spain.
